The internet has made many aspects of our lives easier, from our grocery shopping to our banking, apps have replaced stores and now our love lives are also evolving. Dating apps and websites have boomed in recent years with it now estimated that by 2050 82% of the population will find their partner through the internet, but navigating the world of online dating can be tricky, how do you find your needle in the haystack, the person you want to say yes to?

  1. Decide whether you want to be on an app or a website

The online dating world can be loosely grouped into dating Apps such as Bumble, Tinder and Grindr and dating websites such as eharmony and Match.com. It’s important to note that many dating sites do also offer app versions of themselves but they still differ from specific dating Apps. In general dating apps have you base your initial attraction a person on their image, they are more convenient and they base their delivery of potential matches on location. Dating websites, on the other hand, offer more detail about a person through their profile, location needn’t be as much of a deal-breaker and you can take a little more time making your decision.

2. Find the right App or website for you

There are now hundreds of dating apps and websites on the market and it’s important to find the right one to deliver what you are looking for. Grindr is geared up towards the gay, bi and transgender community, Bumble puts the power into the womans hand and allows them to speak first, and Arab Matchmaking is a site specialising in Arab dating. If you have something specific you look for in a partner then do some research around the best Apps or sites to help you find it.

3. Create an honest profile

Perhaps the hardest part about online dating is creating your profile and many people try to rush this step, however, the quality of the matches you get will determine largely on doing this correctly. Always be honest when creating your profile, use real images and real information as misleading potential matches will only cause you problems later down the line. With dating Apps keep your profile short and sweet, with websites elaborate a little more. Remember that your profile is designed to get people’s attention and you can give them more detailed information about yourself over the phone or through the chat feature.

4. Don’t judge a book by its cover

Despite many dating Apps and websites placing images as one of the most ruminant features of their profiles, it’s important not to judge every match by their pictures. Images can be deceiving and attraction is not based on looks alone. Try not to base your decision on a person solely on their images, at least give them a chance to speak to you to see if your personalities click. This can be especially tricky with Apps such as Tinder and Bumble which have you swipe based on images and a few sentences alone and if you are truly keen to find a match that isn’t based on looks then consider using a dating website with more carefully constructed profiles instead.

We finally did Georges Island Tour… one of the most historic defence points in the harbour. It was such perfect Weather.
Halifax ka chhota sa island, lekin tunnel system kafi gehra.

Purane zamane ke defence tunnels — thanday, narrow, aur fascinating. 🧐 built in the 1800s, once used by soldiers to find refuge beneath the fort.

Honestly bohot yaadgar day trip.
Kabhi kabhi bas ek simple tour bhi dil ko refresh kar deta hai.

Weather was beautiful, the tour was simple, and the history was surprisingly deep.
Sometimes the smallest islands hold the biggest stories.

Booking info:
We booked the official Parks Canada tour via Ambassatours. Tickets were approx $25 per person for the round‑trip ferry & island access inc tunnel tour.
August was beautiful. 😻 Alhamdulilah.
