Potty Training Guide: What I Learned After Training 2 Kids

Potty Training Both My Kids After 2 — What Really Worked (and What Didn’t)

Potty training is one of those parenting milestones that looks simple from the outside… until you’re actually in it. I trained both my kids around 2–2.8, and even though they were close in age, their journeys were different. One was smooth and straightforward. The other required patience, creativity, and a whole lot of emotional energy.

I don’t believe in the whole “girls are easier, boys are harder” narrative. I’ve heard it all, but I believe its just a matter of readiness, personality, and temperament. Every child is different.

In this guide, I’m sharing the full story of how I potty trained both my kids — what worked, what failed, the tricks that saved me, the mental load, the night training, the school‑readiness piece, and the things I wish someone had told me earlier.
