A New Paradigm

A few days ago, Mr. Babar Qureshi came to our place to share his inspiring story with us. In 2008, he was first diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (blood cancer), stage 3. The oncologist recommended chemo. He had 8 cycles of chemo in 2011. In the meantime, he was sent home by Shaukat Khanum cancer hospital (the best Cancer hospital in Pakistan) as they said it’s stage 4 now and there is no cure.

Meanwhile, he had started his research and decided to opt for alternate medicine. Now he is 60+ and I thought he was around 45 as he looks so fit and young. He is quite slim and his new diet plan has made him feel healthy and fit. He never got himself examined again as he doesn’t really have faith in doctors and the healthcare industry anymore. He even referred to a lot of prescribed treatment as fraud and a money-making business. He said this industry is fear-based. He doesn’t know if he has cancer but his diet doesn’t feed it. He says he feels healthier than he ever did before.

Meeting him was so inspirational. I really wish everyone could meet him and learn from him. We really need these reminders in life!

Theory

This discussion really motivated me:

  • Take control of your life.
  • Don’t blindly trust the doctors/hospitals.
  • Our body is our only ride.
  • How do you feel when it’s renovated. You start living again.

He doesn’t believe that a cancer patient should go ahead with the treatment plan of doctors including chemotherapy, surgery & radiation.

He really believes that the major cause of deadly diseases like Cancer is the processed foods that we eat.

His cancer cure is based on a lifestyle that our forefathers had, or those living in villages. The closer we are to nature, the better it is for us.

Treatment

1. Cannibus oil

He found out that Cannibus oil 1 CC a day is a natural cure for Cancer and has amazing response esp for breast cancer & brain tumor. So he started having it daily.

2. Diet

He also changed his diet completely. Following is his diet:

  • Fresh vegetables (steamed or boiled)
  • Rice (white & brown)
  • lentils (all types)
  • Salads
  • Fresh fruit

He removed the following completely from his diet:

  • No salt & sugar (He speaks highly of pink himalayan salt which is a great replacement) He said white sugar is poison
  • Oil (he said all oils are drama)
  • All meats (as he said theres no way we can get pure meat from here. he said it wouldve been good if we could hunt it ourselves)
  • All dairy products including eggs
  • All processed foods
  • All fizzy drinks/juices etc
  • All wheat/chapati etc (he said theres no way we can get fresh wheat so he removed it all)

Reheated oil becomes carcinogenic (cancerous). So all fried food esp from restaurants should be strictly avoided.

Earthing

We also talked about how important earthing is for all human beings. Feet should touch earth daily 1/2 hour to 40 mins. Take the sun daily.

Happiness

If you find happiness from foods, you will be doomed. We should find happiness from other things in life (hobbies, friends, etc)

We should eat to live not live to eat.

Transition

Rather than slowly trying to eliminate unhealthy diet from our lives, he said cold-turkey is the only way. Only the first 1-2 weeks are hard but after that, one starts to actually like the healthy foods.

Universal law

Whatever pleasure you seek, you will get an equal amount of pain.

So it’s better to stay away from pleasure from foods.

Destiny debate

A lot of us argue that the amount of time we have in this world is pre-destined; so it shouldn’t matter what we eat. But his reply was that if we eat healthy food, our quality of life improves drastically. He says when he used to have a processed food diet, he used to have body aches even around age 30. But now, at 60 (after a healthy diet transition), he feels so good and has no pain.

Fasting

He talked about how important it is for the human body to fast. Fasting heals the body. He talked about how we should only eat when we are hungry and stop eating when our stomach isn’t full. That’s the way a human body is designed. He said he doesn’t have any breakfast and only eats when he’s hungry.

Rest

Also talked about how important rest is for the human body especially for healing.

Overall health

Also talked about the importance of good minerals in our body. It is a common misconception that vitamins are more important but actually minerals that count: Zinc, Chromium, Calcium etc.

How to handle craving

Since the beginning of time, food has been the biggest temptation to humans. Adam and eve were asked by God not to touch fruit (or some food item) but even they failed the test. So it has always been hard for human beings to resist food temptation. Following are some good ideas to avoid food temptation:

  • Dry fruits
  • Fig
  • Dates
  • Green tea

Chewing

Talked about the importance of chewing. If you think a vegetable diet will keep your stomach empty and craving for more, try chewing food properly. Eg. A cow chews all the time even though it doesn’t eat that much. The act of chewing properly makes you feel full.

Cancer – a blessing

He repeatedly said that his Cancer has been the biggest blessing for him as he would never have changed his diet otherwise.

Conclusion

I feel like this discussion we had with Mr. Babar was revolutionary – life-changing even for me. Its not only for cancer patients. It’s for everyone! Even if one doesn’t get cancer, all these unhealthy habits lead to other deadly illnesses too including heart disease, liver damage etc.

Cancer is the most widespread disease in the whole world today and Mr. Babar’s opinion that the main cause is our ‘processed foods diet’ seems to be true. According to him, if we want to live a life worth living, we must eat healthily. That way, our body will be pain & disease free and we will be able to enjoy life to the fullest.

From the bitterness of disease, man learns the sweetness of health.
