Organic Radiance: Hair care

Hi girls. Today on Organic Radiance, we will be discussing a few easy-to-make hair masks. I will be keeping the post as short as possible and only sharing the best recipes for hair masks I’ve found so far. I didn’t go into benefits of the following as it gets too lengthy. Masks with a thin consistency can be poured into a spray bottle and sprayed onto hair thoroughly. For thicker mixtures, the best way to apply natural hair mask is with a hair dye brush on scalp and roots. After applying the mixture, its best to wear a shower cap for better absorption. I have kept an extra shower cap in my washroom only for hair masks. It’s one from my stay at a hotel. Those are quite thin and are perfect for this.

While applying hair conditioners or masks, it is vital to thoroughly massage your scalp for blood circulation. It will make you feel refreshed too. Other than the following hair masks, the most effective natural items are hair oils (coconut, olive, almond, Amla, sesame, etc), Aloe Vera (simply applying its gel from its leaves), and Henna mixture.
All the following masks have to be applied at least for 20 minutes. They are all natural so you can always apply them for a longer period of time. Please adjust the quantity of the following according to your hair length.
1.
1 Egg
1 lemon (juice)
2.
1 T coconut oil
2 t honey

3.
2 T Olive oil
1 T Honey
2 T Yogurt
4.
1 Egg yolk
1 T Olive oil
3 T honey
2 T Apple cider vinegar
3 T water
5.
3 T Mayonnaise
In case its not available at home, you can make it as follows:
1 Egg yolk
1 t Vinegar
1 t Lemon juice
1 t Olive oil
6.
Aloe vera gel
2 T Yogurt
2 T Olive oil
7.
1 egg yolk
1 t honey
1 t olive oil

The above are recommended. But if you really want to take the plunge and want your hair to be thoroughly treated, even at the expense of stink and hassle, then you could use the following. Please be warned that I have tried onion juice on hair once and swore I would never ever do that again as the smell lingers for months. However, if you want to thoroughly condition your hair, you can do so by applying onion juice (from juicer) to hair and scalp directly. Secondly, banana is effective for hair but it doesn’t wash out easily. Its bits stay glued to hair strands even if you use conditioner. So use the following at your own risk:
8.
1. Mashed banana
2 T Yogurt
9.
1 Egg
2 T Olive oil
1 Mashed banana
1 T Milk
1 T Honey
10.
1 Mashed banana
2 t Milk
1 t Honey
1 egg yolk
11.
1 T Honey
1 T Mayonnaise
1 T Olive oil
1/2 cup onion juice (made from 2 onions in a juicer)

Note:
T – Table spoon
t – Tea spoon

Just after you have applied shampoo, giving hair a final rinse with vinegar boosts shine. Keeping it in a spray bottle in your shower area makes it easier to use. Have you got any more ideas for hair care? Please feel free to share.
